The Terry Hiatt Band

The Terry Hiatt Band

Sponsored by Phil and Colleen Sage

Terry calls his music “gumbo” – a blend of styles, genres and influences. Blues is one influence but, as music author Jeff Kaliss once wrote, Terry “…takes fans far beyond the blues, with a song list that borrows from or pays tribute to rock legend George Harrison and jazz wizard John Scofield as well as to blues forefathers…” Mac McDonald called Terry “…an immensely gifted and creative guitarist” The Golden Gate Blues Society Newsletter described him as “an extraordinary guitarist who create[s] innovative musical patterns…”
Musical gumbo? See for yourself.

Ameripolitan Music Awards, has received gold and platinum record awards for his work with R&B divas, En Vogue, has won songwriting awards and has been recognized as one of the hottest acts on the San Francisco music scene.

In Jinx Jones’ impressive musical career he has visited nearly every conceivable style and genre of the electric guitar. From his work Chuck Berry, Solomon Burke, and Roy Buchanan to his own acclaimed rockabilly albums, “License to Twang,” “Rumble & Twang,” “Rip and Run,” Live Twang in Finland.” And “Twang-Tastic!,” Jones has always strived to expand the possibilities of the instrument. He accepts every musical challenge head on, always making an impressive statement with his music. The one thing that remains consistent throughout Jones’ multi-stylistic journey is the grace and finesse of his virtuoso playing.

Mighty Mike Schermer

“Mighty Mike Schermer is probably the best blues guitarist, singer and songwriter you’ve never heard of…and probably not for long!” – Tommy Castro

“Every time I play with him my booty hurts afterwards from him kicking it all night!” – Elvin Bishop

“Funky and authentic!” – Bonnie Raitt

Texas heat meets California Cool:

Mighty Mike Schermer was a fixture on the Bay Area blues scene for over 20 years when he relocated to Austin TX in 2009 and joined the touring band of swamp-boogie piano legend Marcia Ball. He had carved out a solid solo career, with four critically acclaimed CDs, an award winning single and thousands of performances at festivals and nightclubs the world over. He also became the “go to guy” sideman for such heavyweights as Elvin Bishop, Maria Muldaur, Angela Strehli, Bonnie Raitt, Howard Tate, Charlie Musselwhite, Sista Monica, Shana Morrison and many, many more. Oh yes…we may be judged by the company we keep, but when the spotlight shines a solo artist also must be able to bring the goods all on his own.

Mighty Mike Schermer delivers on all fronts.

Chris Cain

Chris Cain

Sponsored by Todd Chandler’s Exterior Designs Chris Cain’s jazz-tinged, blues soaked guitar and deep, warm vocals have the maturity and authenticity of bluesmen many years his senior. His expressive style is the result of a lifetime of study and the relentless pursuit of music mastery. His passion and intensity are a blend of his mother’s Greek ancestry and his father’s soulful black heritage. “Nowadays most young blues players are Strat-wielding Stevie Ray Vaughan-a-bes. Not Chris Cain. With a voice that recalls B.B. King and a thick toned Gibson guitar sound reminiscent of Albert King, Cain is forging a unique style. With his own highly personalized songwriting, “Hall Of Shame” is a giant step in the development of one of the most compelling young bluesmen on today’s scene.” -Larry Nager (syndicated Scripts-Howard music critic)

Howell Devine Halloween Spooktacular

Howell Devine Halloween Spooktacular

Shack-Shaking Music “There is no blues band performing today as different as HowellDevine—nor as delightful.” ~ Lee Hildebrand, Living Blues Magazine/SF Chronicle Triple threat talent, Joshua Howell (guitar, harmonica, vocals) and percussion savant, Pete Devine (drums, washboard), plus veteran upright bassist, Joe Kyle Jr. deftly mix Delta/Country Blues with wildly syncopated rhythms to create a rollicking present-day sound rooted in early blues. HowellDevine breaks from the norm, providing rich and complex textures integral to the music rather than simple backing for a soloist. The result is a sound which stands in stark contrast to the typical blues heard in bars these days and would more likely be shaking the floors of a Southern juke joint some 70 years ago.

Wednesday Nov 4th

Terrie Odabi

“Terrie Odabi is easily the most dynamic blues and soul woman to have emerged in the Bay Area since Etta James came out of San Francisco’s Fillmore District in the Fifties. Terrie has a powerful set of pipes, writes terrific tunes, leads a kicking band and has onstage movements that perfectly match the rhythms of her material. Surely stardom awaits her.”

-Lee Hildebrand, contributor to the *San Francisco Chronicle, *East Bay News Group and *Living Blues Magazine”
