Indigenous front man, Mato Nanji, was born and raised on the Yankton Sioux Reservation in South Dakota. The group’s music is inspired by blues and rock greats, such as Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and B.B. King, but also by the social issues and cultural bonds of the Mato’s Nakota roots.

Indigenous has won Native American Music Awards for blues recording of the year as well as artists of the year. Mato has also picked up a devoted audience as a featured member of the annually sold out Hendrix Experience Tour since 2002. He has just returned from the 2017 tour.

Jake Nielsen was born March 29, 1985 in Watsonville Ca. Born with cerebral palsey, Jake has no use of his legs. Never letting that slow him down, he picked up the guitar at age 15,and started his first band, FUBAR at age 16. Together they won Monterey Battle of the Bands, played reggae festivals and won a Swagg Award for there first album. After recently going solo Jake joined up with well-known harmonica player Jr. Boogie and together they have been making a lot of noise on the west coast blues seen. Opening for such acts as Elvin Bishop, Roy Rogers, Buddy Guy and much more. Just recently Jake started his own band with drummer Derrick Martin and bass player Chris Wienress. He is currently recording his first solo album that should be done by the end of 2011.
